Wedding Ring

Wedding Ring – A Recognizable Symbol of Love

The wedding ring, that most famous and instantly recognizable symbol of the
(hopefully perpetual) joining of a man and a woman as and wife in the
institution of marriage, has a long, wide spread and mysterious history. The meaning of the wedding ring can be traced back almost 5,000 years. It is said the wedding ring tradition was first originated by the Egyptians who some 4,800 years ago twisted plant material (such as hemp) into rings and bracelets.

The ring is of course a circle and this was the symbol of eternity for the Egyptians as well as many other ancient cultures. It had no beginning and no end, like time.It returned to itself, like life; and the shape was worshiped in the form of the Sun and the Moon. The hole in the center of the ring is not just space either; it is important in its own right as the symbol of the gateway, or door; leading to things and events both known and unknown.
It is not difficult therefore, to see how the ring and the gift of a ring began to be associated with love, in the hope that this most worthy of emotions could take on the characteristics of the circle and capture eternity.
They believed the round symbolism of wedding rings was linked to an eternal love with no end. Use of the wedding band symbol is mentioned in the hieroglyphics on the walls of Egyptian tombs as translated by archaeologists.

Marriage

Marriage Advice

Marriage is a beautiful relationship. Unfortunately, during the current years, more marriages are getting broken than ever. People are not able to co exist together in marriage. What are the possible reasons? Why marriages are breaking faster, why are we not getting what we want from marriage? Are our expectations wrong? Or our choice of partner is faulty? Let us find out.

The major factors that contribute to success in marriage are - Knowing what we desire in the marriage, selecting the right partner for fulfilling those desires, defining marriage goals and getting approval about them from the partner, discussing all the issues that hurt the relationship, changing your own style of relating so that marriage becomes stronger and not giving up so easily if cracks develop and try to save the marriage. A broken marriage is not pleasant for any one and hurts.

A marriage is like a cart on two wheels. Both the partners are the wheels. If one wheel becomes weaker or if the wheels are different in size, the cart stops moving. It is similar with marriage. If one partner over dominates or demands more only for himself/herself, the marriage will suffer. For a marriage to succeed, the partners have to take care of each other's desires, emotions, physical needs and intellectual needs. Both the partners have to support each other to grow and not criticize each other.

For example, if a partner knows that his/her spouse is weak in a certain area, it is the duty of the other partner to compensate that and not criticize. Another factor is fear of conflict. Sometimes, the conflicts become so pain giving that partners avoid talking to each other fearing that a conflict may arise. This fear of conflict will kill all communication. Instead what is needed is- healthy communication and peaceful resolution of conflicts in a spirit of give and take. Why should a partner be afraid of talking to other partner in a marriage? That sounds ridiculous, but this is true. This phase spells near death of a marriage.

Positive Thinking

Advantages of Positive Thinking

Thinking is something through which we distinguish from the non human or animal behaviors. The Psycho analysis of all the beings of the earth shows distinctly that the sense of thinking is important for the rational behavior. Attitude forms an important part whereas thinking contributes lot to the attitude. Sometimes the thinking, itself can prove us to an animal behavior. That is where we find the negative thoughts coming in. The insane qualities are product of negative thinking.

But then, what is that keeping fewer beings to march forward and go on and on? Understand the magic; it is nothing but positive thinking. Specificity of being positive in certain thoughts can be a key to the best optimistic approach. A motivational speaker gives you a lot of insight about the positive thinking, but what helps you to stay positive? It is being specific to the lifestyle that the keynote speaker gives you. Ultimately it turns to you and your decision.

Our usual misconceptions about positive thinking are that money will drop out of the sky; GOD will come on a chariot to take away the sufferings and pains and lot more imaginations. But positive thinking is not that, which eventually can lead you to that level. In order to acquire the great status of positive thinking, we must realize what positive thinking is all about and what it is not! The stepping towards every small step that you want to achieve will carry you to the optimistic world. Believe that the knowledge of "positive thinking" will help you in having it as your tool to reach your own skies. The very feel of positive thinking itself will help you to feel confident and move towards it. This attitude helps us be a lot more fun to be with.

Well started is half done? Yes. So start any venture with the positive and the best optimistically promising approach. Decide that it is half done. It is possible for many people to stay positive even after facing many hurdles. Search for examples stop once Abraham Lincoln comes to the mind. Learn from the experienced.

The motivational speakers can help you attain a lot of scope in positive thinking, and remember to form the best impression within yourself.

GOAL SETTING TECHNIQUES

Setting Goals – How To Begin

Setting goals doesn’t have to become a task you dread, as most success and achievement occurs when you experience motivation in obtaining the things you want out of life. If you feel forced to come to conclusions regarding your life, you may set goals that hinder your personal development.

When it comes to goal setting, each and every person possesses their own notion of what their prime objective should be. While one person may have always wanted to act on Broadway, another may simply wish to learn how to knit.

It is important to clearly state your goals before moving on to attain your desires and making your dreams come true. This act will increase your chances in reaping the benefits of success. Depending on the goals you settle upon, the path you choose may or may not become riddled with obstacles. In order to take hold of the things you wish to achieve – motivation and patience will become your best friends. Below are a few suggestions on how to successfully start setting goals:

1) Give It Sincere Thought

The different components within your life will affect the goals you set for yourself and help determine the correct approach to take. Your current place of employment or school, level of education, finances, family, friends, and career all come into play.

For example, if you want to start your own business – immediate income and financing become an issue. Do you have a nest egg to fall back on? Will you need to take out a loan? Do you have enough time to wholeheartedly devote to your goal? It is important to give sincere thought to your goals, as it helps paint a better picture of your future.

2) Think About the Future

It is suggested to ask yourself questions that pertain to the future and how other goals in your life may become affected. You should plan ahead when achievement in one area of your life will influence the things you have already established. In many cases, it is wise to think about how your goals will affect the people around you, including parents, husbands, wives, and children.

For instance, the mother of three who dreams of making it big in Nashville may achieve success in the recording industry, but must later make the decision on whether or not to leave behind her young children while hitting the road for a tour. The importance and clear-headed brainstorming of goals will help make decisions like this much easier. Obstacles do not mean the dream is unobtainable, as it only encourages your determination and motivation (combined with outside factors) to align.

3) Prioritize

The constant reviewing and re-prioritizing of goals is expected in those who are truly serious about changing their lives and succeeding in achieving their objectives. The world is an ever-changing roller coaster that has a knack for throwing a curve ball at you every once in a while – making it impossible not to roll with the punches.

4) Plan for the Future

People who set lifetime goals not only create a clearer picture of their life, but also enjoy a higher success rate in achievement. This doesn't mean that all the things you plan for the future will come true or will even stay the same, but it is helpful to plan ahead for 5-, 10 -, and sometimes 20 years from the present time. Yearly, monthly, and weekly goals should receive your highest level of attention.

Memory Enhancement

How To Increase Memory

To keep the mind active throughout the life time requires lots of effort. What we generally refer to memory is actually many different processes occur in the brain. There are two types of memory, one is referred as short term and other is long term memory. These are fundamentally distinctive interactive processes.

Only some percentage of short term memory is getting converted into the long term memory storage. When the event stores into the long term memory storage, the brain synthesizes the protein for axon and dendrite pathways after taking decision that whether the event is important enough to store? The hippocampus, cortex and frontal lobes are actively involved in the storage, retention and revival of the facts.

A key to building memory power that can lat long is to be able to relate the new fact with the old one. We can keep the memories working and active. Just imagine a situation that you are in the meeting and you are the only one to see the vision for the company and you can get the boost with it.

There are numerous methods that can be applied to keep memory active. A bored mind can be jolted to the activities with becoming more and more curious about the things. This can give an edge and will boost the confidence where others can refuse to trade. You can be there and will be able to talk with the edge it gives.

Another good method is to use mnemonics and memory aids.
You should make habit to remember particular things with their short form s or converting them into some meaningful thoughts. This will help you when you have to remember the large amount of information. At the end, you can have many letters that you can format into tone particular string that can be remembered. And can be easy to recall. You can just remember the letters in your mind and you can immediately recall whole information. When you want to concentrate hard just think about your happy times in past, the clothes you really like, best thing you have ever done and there will smile on your face with the confidence and this confidence will help you to get the concentration.

Numerous emotions whether they are happy or sad will help you to remember the scenes in the memory. The conscious emotions always help to remember the things greatly. Remember your happy times and keep the sharp mental pictures of it. At the times of recall just go back to that state of mind where you stored the pictures. To remember long list of things in memory, this is a good method, especially when you are going for shopping.

Arrange the things in craziest method and arrange them like fish, boat, key etc. Now, imagine a picture that you went in between the sea and open the whale with the key in your hand. Even though this is crazy but it will help you to remember the things related to boat, whale and key. Try this right now and you will surely remember the things related to it.

BROADBAND

What Is Broadband - A Simple Explanation

The birth of technology also leads to the birth of different terms that an ordinary Joe can’t understand sometimes. For one, there is the broadband which is so widely used although a person cannot truly comprehend what the word is all about. Therefore, this article will try to elaborate on what broadband really is about.

Basically, broadband is the term employed together with different internet connections. It is a telecommunication that caters to a wide range of frequencies that are ready to transport all sorts of information. This simply suggests that the wider the range of frequency is, the higher will be the amount that will be sent in a particular period of time.

To better understand what broadband is as compared to different other internet connection, think of highways. In a one lane highway (the usual internet connection), a single car will only be permitted to travel but with the case of the broadband, you will be able to have a highway with as much as 6 to 8 lanes hence more traffic will pass in one given time.

There are different kinds of broadband internet connections that are currently available for people’s use. Some of them are much faster although this kind is normally more expensive. Varying on your personal needs, your budget and the availability are factors that will help you determine which kind of broadband connection is right for you. DIABETES

What is diabetes? This is a frequently asked question that most often refers to the 3 types of diabetes found most commonly in people. In some cases a person will discover that the type of diabetes being discussed will require insulin medication or shots throughout life. Other types of diabetes are resolved with a lifestyle change and rarely require medication.

In the United States, about 5-10% of children and young adults are found to have Type 1 diabetes yearly. It is classified as an auto-immune disease. When the immune system attacks the beta cells that produce insulin in the pancreas and kills them. The pancreas then cannot produce the insulin that the body needs.

Most cases of Type 1 diabetes have a sudden occurance of symptoms which include extreme thirst, frequent urination, extreme hunger, weight loss, blurred vision, and/or extreme fatigue. When there is no medical treatment for this condition it can result in diabetic ketoacidosis, or diabetic coma. This is a serious and life-threatening condition when it is not treated.

Type 2 diabetes occurs in over 95% of adults over 35 in the US according to the Natl. Inst. Of Health. Eighty percent of the people who have Type 2 diabetes are overweight. A person with Type 2 diabetes does not get the insulin they need because their cells become resistant to it.

Type 2 diabetes is caused by obesity, lack of exercise, some ethnicity's, a person's age and, in some cases, genetics. Other triggers for this type of diabetes include high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Unhealthy eating habits are the greatest cause for Type 2 diabetes. When a person has a lifestyle that does not include proper diet and exercise, they are extremely susceptible to Type 2 diabetes.

People will develop the symptoms of this diabetes gradually over a long period of time. They will feel extreme fatigue, blurred vision, increased thirst and hunger, slow healing of wounds and sores, and frequent urination.

In many cases when an individual changes their lifestyle and begins eating properly and exercising, the diabetes will resolve itself. These people do not need to take medication. However, there are cases when the diabetes is not resolved with diet and exercise and medication must be taken at that time.

About three to eight percent of women in their 2nd trimester of pregnancy gets Gestational diabetes. The diabetes often does not have any symptoms and is resolved with the birth of the baby. When a woman is found to have gestational diabetes she will normally be instructed to begin a proper diet and exercise program to keep the diabetes in check during the pregnancy.

Many women who have gestational diabetes when they are pregnant, will develop it with later pregnancies. They also have a 40% risk of developing Type 2 diabetes later in life.

STRESS MANAGEMENT

Managing Stress With a Flexible Mind: You vs The World

Managing stress doesn't require too much from you. Your life is a lot easier than you think; just use this technique and you'll see: Learn about what stresses the world out.

Why? It will help you put things in perspective. Well, what exactly should you do? Simple. Before you continue reading, just think about all the tragic things happening in this world right now. You know, things like war, famine, poverty and crime.

People face such problems like this everyday. So, what's the magic? As soon as you realize the magnified problems of the world as a whole, your own stress problems seem like nothing. It works for me.

How do I do it?

I simply put myself in someone else's shoes. For example, there's a major overseas war going on right now. Surely an innocent person just like you is living in fear everyday.

They didn't ask for it; that's just the way it is. Then ask yourself this question: "Who would I rather be? Me or that person?" As soon as I ask myself this question, I feel grateful. My stress problems seem diminished, sometimes vanish completely!

You see, it's all in your mind. Therefore by "flexing" your mind, or keeping it accustomed to a wider range of situations, you will not get stressed out for simple things. By keeping your mind flexible, you decrease the chances of being stressed out over a trivial matter.

If you learn to accustom yourself to think beyond the scope of your immediate vicinity, you'll end up with a "hit". A "hit" on something unnecessary happening somewhere in the world.

Managing Stress is Influenced by What You're Accustomed To

I live in Canada, where the crime and poverty is not a big problem compared to someone of the more unlucky countries. So what causes stress for me? Simple things, like public speaking, deadlines, etc. Then I think about what causes stress for someone in a country with high crime and poverty. Things like getting fed and fearing for their life when they step outside.

Again, my stressors immediately seem like nothing. With all the craziness going on the world right now, your personal problems really don't matter. I don't mean to offend you, but that's the plain truth. You see, we are all used to different circumstances. If you live in a care-free country, maybe you stress over for the littlest of things. Then what happens when the "big" things arrive?

You'll be overwhelmed with stress. It's a whole different ball game. This is why you must get to know how others are getting through life, in order to start managing stress most effectively. Therefore, what you're used to, also plays a major role in managing stress. There's a wide scope to managing stress. If you train your mind to endure a wider scope, coping with stress will come easy.

So chose your range. Flex your mind. Manage your stress!

TIME MANAGEMENT

Time Management: The Key to a Better Life

Time Management is basically about being focused. The Pareto Principle also known as the '80:20 Rule' states that 80% of efforts that are not time managed or unfocused generates only 20% of the desired output. However, 80% of the desired output can be generated using only 20% of a well time managed effort. Although the ratio '80:20' is only arbitrary, it is used to put emphasis on how much is lost or how much can be gained with time management.

Some people view time management as a list of rules that involves scheduling of appointments, goal settings, thorough planning, creating things to do lists and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.

But there is more skills involved in time management than the core basics. Skills such as decision making, inherent abilities such as emotional intelligence and critical thinking are also essential to your personal growth.

Personal time management involves everything you do. No matter how big and no matter how small, everything counts. Each new knowledge you acquire, each new advice you consider, each new skill you develop should be taken into consideration.

Having a balanced life-style should be the key result in having personal time management. This is the main aspect that many practitioners of personal time management fail to grasp.

Time management is about getting results, not about being busy.

The six areas that personal time management seeks to improve in anyone's life are physical, intellectual, social, career, emotional and spiritual.

The physical aspect involves having a healthy body, less stress and fatigue.

The intellectual aspect involves learning and other mental growth activities.

The social aspect involves developing personal or intimate relations and being an active contributor to society.

The career aspect involves school and work.

The emotional aspect involves appropriate feelings and desires and manifesting them.

The spiritual aspect involves a personal quest for meaning.

Thoroughly planning and having a set of things to do list for each of the key areas may not be very practical, but determining which area in your life is not being giving enough attention is part of time management. Each area creates the whole you, if you are ignoring one area then you are ignoring an important part of yourself.

Personal time management should not be so daunting a task. It is a very sensible and reasonable approach in solving problems big or small.

A great way of learning time management and improving your personal life is to follow several basic activities.

One of them is to review your goals whether it be immediate or long-term goals often.

A way to do this is to keep a list that is always accessible to you.

Always determine which task is necessary or not necessary in achieving your goals and which activities are helping you maintain a balanced life style.

Each and everyone of us has a peek time and a time when we slow down, these are our natural cycles. We should be able to tell when to do the difficult tasks when we are the sharpest.

Learning to say "No". You actually see this advice often. Heed it even if it involves saying the word to family or friends.

Pat yourself at the back or just reward yourself in any manner for an
effective time management result.

Try and get the cooperation from people around you who are actually benefiting from your efforts of time management.

Don't procrastinate. Attend to necessary things immediately.

Have a positive attitude and set yourself up for success. But be realistic in your approach in achieving your goals.

Have a record or journal of all your activities. This will help you get things in their proper perspective.

These are the few steps you initially take in becoming a well rounded individual.

As the say personal time management is the art and science of building a better life.

From the moment you integrate into your life time management skills, you have opened several options that can provide a broad spectrum of solutions to your personal growth. It also creates more doors for opportunities to knock on.

CommonWealth Games 2010

Delhi is in a hurry to prepare itself for the Commonwealth Games. All the government departments are trying their best to bedeck Delhi so that India's name is enshrined in golden letters in the history of Commonwealth Games.

WHETHER IT is cricket, football, hockey, tennis or any other genre of sports, Indians are considered as one of the most avid sports enthusiasts throughout the world. Though cricket is the most popular sport in India, there are other events also where Indians have shown their skill and interest.

After having a considerable success in the Beijing Olympics 2008, India is rapidly preparing for the coming 2010 Commonwealth Games. This time, India is the host country of the Commonwealth Games. The same would take place in New Delhi and its surrounding areas from October 3 to October 14, 2010.

Delhi, one of the largest and modern metropolitan cities of the world, has a population of more than 15 million. Delhi would host one of the largest multi-sport events in the world, thereby bringing the attention of the entire world towards the world’s largest democracy. Commonwealth Games are going to be held for the first time in India. Prior to this, Delhi, the capital city of India, hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982.

India is the third developing country to host this grand sporting event after Jamaica and Malaysia, in 1966 and in 1998, respectively. As an Asian nation, India is the second country to host this event. In January 2005, Randhir Singh, the vice-president of the Commonwealth Games Federation expressed concern that Delhi was behind schedule in setting up an organising committee. On January 18, 2008, the Commonwealth Games Federation finally expressed satisfaction over the progress in preparation for the games.

The road to win the bid for the Commonwealth Games was not full of roses. On November 13, 2003, the Commonwealth Games Federation assembled in Montego Bay, Jamaica to cast their vote for the location of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Delhi won the opportunity to host the 2010 Commonwealth Games, defeating Hamilton, the Canadian city, by 46 votes to 22. The sports minister of India will head the apex committee for conducting the games. Suresh Kalmadi, the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will lead the organising committee.

On January 6, 2008, the logo of the 2010 Commonwealth Games was accepted. Inspired by Ashoka Chakra, its spiraling upwards symbolises India’s rise as a global power and its transition from tradition to modernity. The different colours in the logo symbolise the very rhythm of unity in diversity that has been integral to India since time immemorial.

Eighty five nations are participating in 17 different events of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The events are - Aquatics, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby 7s, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling. The concerned authority has excluded triathlon from the Commonwealth Games this time as there is no suitable venue to organise the swimming stage. There were also proposals for removing basketball and several requests arrived for the inclusion of archery, tennis, billiard and snooker as four events for the men category. Though there were relentless efforts to include Cricket, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was not interested to conduct a Twenty 20 tournament. The BCCI once told that it would support one day matches, but the concerned authority of the Commonwealth Games was not interested in having a day-long match.

To organise each event impeccably, all the existing and new stadia are under modernisation. Both the opening and the closing ceremonies would be held in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Apart from that, the Dhyan Chand National Stadium and Indira Gandhi Arena would also organise some major events. The Delhi University Sports Complex, Tyagaraj Sports Complex, Siri Fort Sports Complex, Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, Talkatora Stadium, SPM Swimming Pool Complex, RK Khanna Tennis Complex and Yamuna Sports Complex are the other stadiums, which would host some major events.

Delhi is in a hurry to prepare itself for the coming grand sporting event. All the departments are trying their best to bedeck Delhi so that India’s name is enshrined in golden letters in the history of Commonwealth Games.

Outbreaks of human infection from a virus which came from pigs (swine influenza) do happen and are sometimes reported. Symptoms will generally be similar to seasonal human influenzas - this can range from mild or no symptoms at all, to severe and possibly fatal pneumonia.

As swine flu symptoms are similar to typical human seasonal flu symptoms, and other upper respiratory tract infections, detection of swine flu in humans often does not happen, and when it does it is usually purely by chance through seasonal influenza surveillance. If symptoms are mild it is extremely unlikely that any connection to swine influenza is found - even if it is there. In other words, unless the doctors and experts are specifically looking for swine flu, it is rarely detected. Because of this, we really do not know what the true human infection rate is.

What are the signs and symptoms of swine influenza in humans?

They are similar to those of regular flu, and include:
  • Body aches
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Diarrohea(less common)
  • Headache
  • Sore Throat
  • Temperature (fever)
  • Tiredness (fatigue)
  • Vomiting (less common)

What medications are there?

There are some drugs around that can effectively treat swine flu infection in humans - and many types of flu infections in humans. There are two main types:
  • adamantanes (amantadine and remantadine)
  • inhibitors of influenza neuraminidase (oseltamivir and zanamivir)
Most previous swine influenza human cases recovered completely without the need for medical attention.
